Pros: Great Picture and Sound. ZOOM!
Cons: Remote
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this player for people who love music and movies, but don't have the room in their entertainment center for both a cd and dvd player.

| J49307's Full Review: Onkyo DV-C501 DVD Player |
This is a great player. Surpassing many with build quality and some high end CD players with sound quality. I have it connected with a Cardas High Speed Data digital coax, which I bought from Audio Advisor, to my Onkyo TX-DS 575 reciever. Great cable that really makes this player sound very musical. I highly recommand using coax rather than TOSLink. I did A B them and clearly the Cardas was way over my Monster Lightspeed TOSLink. The sound of the player with CD's is very open and airy, extended without being bright. The bass is very tight and tuneful. I am using this player as both CD and DVD player. The DVD sound is awesome, you must try Eagles Hell Freezes Over in DTS with this player. The video is connected through Monster's Video 2 component interconnect. The video is great and very sharp.
Some people say it takes a little while to switch through disks, but I have no problem with that. Heck, it would take me longer to get up and get a new CD or DVD. The set-up took about 10 minutes (for my girlfriend, who set it up), so it shouldn't be very hard for those who are new to this.
Overall a great buy!
