Pros: great CD sound. DVD-Audio sounds incredible.
Cons: none so far
The Bottom Line: The Panasonic DVD-A7 is a quality DVD-V and CD player. You can get rid of you existing CD player and still have excellent CD playback with this unit.

| sidamo's Full Review: Panasonic DVD-A7 DVD Player |
I bought this unit mainly for it's DVD-Audio capability, but I also discovered that it is an excellent CD player. The quality of DAC (digital to analog converter) is very good, bringing the audio quality of this unit above any DVD player I have heard.
This player features DVD-Audio playback, which allows you to hear the high resolution sound mixes on the new DVD-A discs. These high resolution mixes can be up to 6 channel, with sampling rates as high as 96khz/24 bit (CD is 44.1/16). Dedicated stereo mixes can have sampling rates of up to 192khz/24 bit. These higher resolution mixes can give digital music a more analog sound.
The video portion of the player is very good as well, better than the Toshiba SD-3109 I was using previously. You can also defeat the video output for cleaner audio playback.
I may be concentrating this review on the audio aspects of the Panasonic DVD-A7, but rightfully so. For the $299.00 this player is going for at some online and B&M retailers, it makes a great DVD-V and CD player. DVD-A is just a bonus.
