| sentra's Full Review: Panasonic DVD-RV30 DVD Player |
I got the Dvd Rv-30 for a prize from an online company a few months ago. I have to admit I was amazed that I got a good quality player for a prize. I honestly thought it would be a cheap one that is about $100.00 (like the ones I could afford, lol).
The minute the player got to my house I opened it up and read the instructions. Let me tell you the instruction pack is just like a book, there is a lot of reading. When I got done with the book I was thankful I had a stereo receiver that was compatable with the player. But then I noticed my television set was not as up to date, so I had to hook the player up through my VCR. When I had it all hooked up I put in a rented DVD movie, layed back and was ready to relax.
Then I had to go through a series of steps to adjust the video and audio settings the player has (that is when I knew I had a good DVD unit). The process was quick and easy in most cases. I got a little confused adjusting the settings for the type of television I have, I got it figured out from trial and error a few minutes later. That is when I could hit play and relax.
When the movie started I could tell the audio difference right away. The optical outlet for DTS made a world of difference (I really don't know why it does, but it does). I then felt like I was actually in a real theater watching a movie. The sound is clear and not distorted, and the big effects (explosions, accidents, etc.) sound so real and make you feel like you are there in person.
The video difference I didn't really see until I bought a new up to date television that had the right input for the player. But, WOW, the picture quality is crystal clear when its compared to regular cable and VCR's. It finally made me feel like I am a college student with money, lol.
I am not a technician of any sorts but here is the list of some specifications the player has and what they do:
-Digital Cinema Mode - gives more of a luminance and color with improved detail for dark and bright scenes
-Still Picture Display - freezes the screen like a pause on a VCR, but is more clear
-Title/Chapter Search - Just like a cd with tracks, a movie is broken down in sections/chapters and then numbered.
-2 Channel plus Bass Output - Will help anyone out that has a receiver 2 speakers and a subwoofer for a ultimate home theater experience.
-On Screen Menu Icons - helps to make the setup stages easier for anyone
-Quick Start - starts the movie right away so you don't have to watch the annoying previews
-Advance V.S.S - gives a great quality surround sound effect even when you use just your two front speakers
-Dialogue Enhancer - makes the dialog channel clearly audible
-CD player - plays CD's in the unit
-Even has Repeat mode, Skip Forward/Reverse, of course the power buttons and Resume Play
The unit even has more features but I don't have a clue to what they do, but they all make the video/audio experience worth the price of the unit.
