| zhouse's Full Review: Panasonic DVD-RV30 DVD Player |
The Panasonic DVD-RV30 is a DVD player my best friend received this past Christmas as a present. Since I'm in the business of writing reviews and electronic opinions, I asked my friend if I could give this sucker a test drive and see if it's worthy for all those to buy and own.
After three movies from my DVD collection (The Matrix, Pulp Fiction, and Fight Club), I have determined that this player is an adequate machine for people to buy and own for themselves.
VIDEO QUALITY
Contains several features:
10-bit Video D/A Converter
Digital Cinema Mode
Just like the numerous DVD players already on the market, it plays DVD movies flawlessly, giving the viewer a sharp, crisp screen with nearly zero distortion patches older DVD players are prone to have. The 10-bit Video D/A Converter allows for such great screen quality.
The colors on the screen, the graphics and special effects a movie can possess, a movie scene full of shadows and dim light; these things are no problem for this Panasonic, thanks to the Digital Cinema Mode. This player possesses a video clarity comparable to that of expensive "big boy" models out on the market.
Plus, you can pause movies with minimal effort.
AUDIO QUALITY
Contains several features:
Frame Advance (Forward & Reverse) - allows for incredible control with a 2-Channel + Bass Output and allows for two channel setup that still provides a big home theater sound thanks to a discrete subwoofer output
Optical output for DTS®1 & Dolby Digital®2 Surround Sound - allows for amazing home theater sound quality
Advanced V.S.S. - allows for a remarkable surround sound effect even while only using the front two speakers
Dialogue Enhancer - allows for the dialog channel (the scripts and voices in the movies) clearly audible over the other sound channels
96kHz/24-bit Audio D/A Converter - allows for overall outstanding sound quality
OTHER FEATURES
There are regular menu and reverse/fast forward scanning features, just like other players. These features are nothing special; simply basic stuff. This Panasonic can also play audio CDs and video CDs (VCDs); decent features that come with most players these days as well.
FLAWS
Unfortunately, you can't play CD-Rs on this player (a must I wish all DVD players had). Plus, there are DVD players out on the market with better and newer technology (like NUON compatibility) and these players have a price tag comparible to this Panasonic.
Overall, it's worth buying. Just keep in mind that you can find a better product if you know where to look.
