| soupcraze's Full Review: Panasonic DVD-RV30 DVD Player |
At epinions.com, I found the Panasonic DVD-RV30 to be the most highly rated DVD player. So I decided to put it to the test. First off, I don't own this DVD player, but I have used it for quite a bit of time. I have been using Onkyo, Sony, Toshiba, and Pioneer DVD players. Can Panasonic make it to these standards? I decided to find out. So anyway, here's what I found with the Panasonic DVD-RV30:
Price:
The $300 mark is the average price for the 'good' DVD players. But, I actually found this DVD player to have a price tag of $275, so it made it slightly lower than the $300 mark. The Panasonic DVD-RV30 contains many of the features that you can find on similar DVD players in this price range. The Panasonic DVD-RV30 performed at very similar levels as the Pioneer DV-333. This pretty much sets the point on brand names... If you really want the name, then go with the Panasonic DVD-RV30. If you want slightly faster and better quality performance, then buy the Pioneer DV-333. There really isn't much difference between the two DVDs. Overall, from the performance that I've seen on the Panasonic DVD-RV30, it seems to be well worth it. It looks like Panasonic took more time in improving sound quality, while Pioneer was spending more time with picture quality. The Panasonic DVD-RV30 is ther best choice for you if you have a huge home theater system that supports Dolby Digital, DTS, and or Dolby Pro Logic sound. The Panasonic DVD-RV30 also does have plenty of features for the money other than the optical output, it's well worth the money.
Warranty:
The Panasonic DVD-RV30 comes with a standard Panasonic parts&labor warranty. Panasonic works well with their warranties, they take care of all problems and complaints quickly and effectively. Panasonic is hassle free for most part.
Durability:
Like many other DVD players that I have seen from top Asian brands, the Panasonic DVD-RV30 is a solid system. Panasonic is known for having top quality solid systems, and the Panasonic DVD-RV30 really does live up to those standards. The Panasonic DVD-RV30 will last you a long time, it's one tough system.
Installation:
Installing the Panasonic DVD-RV30 wasn't much of a problem. Panasonic does have very easy to follow instruction manuals that comes with most of their products. The Panasonic DVD-RV30 was no exception, it was an easy to install and use product. I had no problems hooking it up to the Sony KV32FS12 testbed television. The Panasonic DVD-RV30 shouldn't be a problem for anyone to install. If you have used previous DVDs before, there's no need for the manual. If you never used a DVD before in your life, the manual makes installation a trouble free job.
Sound:
The sound on the Panasonic DVD-RV30. It has an optical output. It has Dolby Digital, DTS, and Dolby Pro Logic support. The sound that was coming through the Sony KV32SF12 sounded great, but the sound that was coming out of the Yamaha CS-R4000 (stereo which I attatched to the DVD and TV) sounded simply amazing. The Panasonic DVD-RV30 really has some great sound. Onkyo and Panasonic are the leaders in DVD sound. Even if you don't have a monster stereo or reciever, the sound from the DVDs will still sound great. Panasonic really did a great job with the sound on the Panasonic DVD-RV30.
Video:
The video quality on the Panasonic DVD-RV30 is great. There were no flaws in the picture at all when I viewed it. The picture was very bright and smooth. I was able to see very small details in clothing and every other minor detail while watching DVDs. The Panasonic DVD-RV30 also does offer a few cool video features. One cool is that you can get good picture quality in dark scenes by making them brighter. The video quality overall looks great on the Panasonic DVD-RV30. On a flat screen TV like a Sony KV32FS12 WEGA, the picture will simply amaze you.
Ease of Use:
The Panasonic DVD-RV30 is a very easy to use DVD player. It has a very easy to use and navigate-through menu. Using the Panasonic DVD-RV30 is no problem at all. No one should have any problems using it.
The Verdict:
The Panasonic DVD-RV30 really is a great DVD player that supports DVD/CD formats. It has great sound and picture. The Panasonic DVD-RV30 was a very easy to use DVD player for me. Overall, I think that this is a nearly perfect system, at such a low price! ~$300 is definately worth the price. The Panasonic DVD-RV30 gives you simply amazing quality video and sound. One other thing that I liked about this DVD player is that it's Energy Star complient, which means that you'll be saving money on energy bills because the Panasonic DVD-RV30 would be using much less electricity than a similar DVD player without the Energy Star complience. The Panasonic DVD-RV30 is well worth the price, and hey... It's Panasonic!
