I bought this product for the following reasons:
* Built-in Dolby Digital Decoder - You don't have to have a routing amp\reciever to have sourrund sound.
* Dialogue enhancement features - With this feature you don't have to keep on rewinding the tape to hear what someone in the movie said or ask your neighbor "what'd he say?"
* V.S.S - Advanced Virtual Surround Sound simulation - Nifty internal software and hardware design that creates an encapsulated, 5 speaker surround sound effect using only two front speakers. This is a nice feature for people who have simple bookshelf style systems as it allows you to use your two speakers to create a 5 speaker sound.
* Night view and Day view modes - Helpful if you have lots of windows or mirrors in the house.
* DTS sound system - Need I say more.
* Way cool styling - Nice balance of metal and polymer. The toggle knob is nicely weighted and just the right size.
I like this machine for the follwing reasons:
* Beautiful sound and picuture quality
* Easy to use
* Easy to setup
* The advertised features actually make a difference in the viewing experience.
* My favorite part, I think, is the remote control. They made the most common buttons used, i.e. play, pause, ffwd so accessible, you can do it in the dark. It's very annoying to have the turn the light on in the middle of a movie every time you want to rewind a bit... you won't have to do this with this remote control.
I paid $299 for my machine. At this price, for the features, it's a pretty good deal. There were others out there but this one had the features that made sense most. At the price, for the quality, the RV65 is in a league all its own.
