Pros: Detailed setup, great picture quality and sound
Cons: menu icons are difficult to memorize, mechanics are loud and multi-angle icon stays on screen
The Bottom Line: A great buy for the money. Beginers will find this a great DVD player and advanced users will enjoy the setup options.

| crayola_boy's Full Review: Philips DVD950AT Player |
My old Philips didn't have a decoder, or even 5.1 outputs, so it was time for me to upgrade. After hooking this unit up, I instantly heard the difference a decoder can make. The sound is sharp and very directional, and that's what I wanted. The problem I have with it is the menus. It uses icons that are hard to memorize for things such as slow motion. The setup is fabulous though. I was able to customize my color and audio settings on screen. It gave me noise in each speaker so I could adjust the volume to the "sweet spot" in my living room. All in all, it was a good buy, but I'm going to have to make a cheat sheet for those menu icons.
