I spent nearly 6-months researching to choose a dvd player. I am Hi-Fi junky and have great ears since I'm a pro. musician on top of being an Engineer so Technical data is my game. I checked all the dvd players and looked for certain minimum qualities like play CD-R and CD-rw, dual laser beams,and the SOUND was THE important factor since most of the DVD players I checked have near identical picture qualities..!!
So my choice was the Philips 950 model...with much anticipation I brought it home and connected it using my Kimber interconnects, with MIT II speaker cables, B&W 302 speakers, and Carver Amp/receiver....WOW!!!
Picture was unbelievable, the sound blew my top of the line Marantz CD player out of the room, the remote control's operation is easy enough for my two under 10-years old daughters,...what else can I say..for $349.00 no other DVD player comes close to this product for a looong time to come, since it also could be upgraded in the future.... I don't know what was I waiting for?..before I decided to buy this new toy..!!
