| nikabud's Full Review: Pioneer DV-333 DVD Player |
When Christmas rolls around, everybody is rushing to buy the best and the most expensive products because they automatically assume that the best is the one with the most dollar signs. Unfortunately, those people only end up with a DVD player just like the rest but with more features than they know what to do with. This Pioneer DVD Player will not let you down in the long run because it has everything one could possibly need, including great sound, picture, and ease of use in the controls. On top of that, the price is quite minimal.
Sound
According to common sense, everyone needs to hear what is important, but if a machine emanates a poor sound, the result is a poor understanding of the situation which leads to unnecessary misconceptions. In movies, like all others, I'm sure everyone wants to hear the words because it could be an important part that you can't miss. Unfortunately, VHS players and poor quality DVD players can produce such an effect. With the Pioneer DV333, you won't hear any blips in sound, and the outcome of the movie's sound is so entirely crisp that you'll imagine yourself in a movie theater without the booming speakers.
Another good thing about this player in relation to its sound is that you can choose which type of sound you prefer. There is the Dolby Digital sound and the Hi8 choice of sound. Depending on the movie, you can choose from possible among more than what I listed.
Picture Quality
I remember the first night that we watched a DVD on our new player, and my dad could not stop from talking throughout the whole entire movie. "The picture is so clear!" he would say. "You can even see the wrinkles on the guy's forehead," is what he said a couple times. Although we tried to shut him up, he kept pointing out all the cool things he could now see. I'm not sure if that was a clear enough example for you, but to prove it I want you to understand the differences between a VHS tape and a DVD disc. Just like in the theater's (well, some anyway), they use the type of film like in the VHS type, you know, that thick brown stuff inside it. In contrast, the DVD disc uses a laser to transmit the movie signals into your TV. Now, most older people will say, how do they get the movie on such a little thing? And you can tell them it plays the movie like a CD, and then if they don't get it still, then just say something about the new "laser technology" which it actually is, but just more complicated than that.
Now, there are some skeptics who think that the definition of the picture is the same, but I would have to draw the line at that. There is an INCREDIBLE difference in definition between movies of VHS and DVD. There isn't any other way to describe how much better the picture than just experiencing first-hand of how unbelievable the difference is.
Ease of Controls
Though this machine may be "simple" and plain-looking, it is the EASIEST machine to operate. The buttons on the front are very simple, Skip forward/backward chapter, Play, Stop, Pause, and Open/Close. If that is too many buttons, you obviously are not used to these types of machines like I was at first! There isn't any brightness, contrast, or any other strange control that could confuse you. But if you are a feature lover, than you might want to hold on to the remote because it beholds every other feature you could imagine you wanted. When you start a movie, there is no need to set any controls, because you can simply insert a DVD disc and the movie is ready to go.
Another great feature of this player is that plays CDs also! That's right, you can play a CD or a DVD whenever you want. You don't ever have to set any controls because the DVD player will recognize the format of the type of disc you put into it, and it will automatically play. With all these simple features, how could you want anything more? There's no way you could, unless you are a movie demon and constantly watch movies 24/7.
All in all, this machine provides what every family could want in a simple DVD player. So, next time you are searching for a present or something for yourself, keep in mind that the high dollar machines are not always the best.
