| mattgordon's Full Review: Panasonic PV-C2540 25 inch TV |
Our Panasonic TV / VCR combo is great.
The automated set-up, which includes instant channel identification as well as local time, and cable channel selection was a breeze.
It is a very generous-sized picture at 25", and the PanaBlack tube renders a great image. I especially enjoy (and use) the automatic alarm feature which wakes me up to the television each day. It's hard to ignore a 25 inch TV at 6:00 am !. So the unit has sleep as well as wake-up features...very cool. I use both of these handy options.
This unit also has built-in FM radio too! When you use it, the time is displayed on the screen and slowly moves around like the screen-saver on your computer...its quite nice. (You'd think they would have added TV sound, (without the picture) at the same time...for when your working around the house and can't watch but like to hear...just a thought)
The front loading VHS tape recorder is right under the picture tube, and seems to be just fine. A DVD player / TV combo is probably the next "standard" in combo units. Time will tell.
Then there's the remote controller. It's named Tower of Light, but features some 50 odd buttons, many of them quite tiny, and the light part only illuminates the largest of the buttons....the ones you typically can "feel" for. It's the assorted "sleep", "night" and numerous others which need, but do NOT receive the tower of light treatment.
The remote is virtually impossible to use in a darkened room, for all but channel or volume controlling. It will take me a long-time to "memorize" this remote for darkened-room use. It's kinda like learning a foreign language....having to "conjugate" the function keys, and shifting the features between shared functions for the same key, etc. I don't have any other remote controller with this many buttons.
All in all, this is a real nice set, which we like quite well. It replaces an old Quasar (another Panasonic brand name) 13" TV/VCR combo, and has served us real well for over 10 years. Hopefully this will give the same service life, the picture quality and amenities are sure there!
