Pros: Commercial Advance; great picture and sound; very fast rewind.
Cons: Limit of 8 timer programs.
The Bottom Line: Buy it at any price! The Commercial Advance feature alone makes this model worth it.

| CactusJulie's Full Review: Panasonic PV-V4660 VHS VCR |
I have owned this VCR for a year and a half. I will never buy another brand.
This replaced a Toshiba that spent 2 years in the repair shop. Toshiba honored the warranty since we had trouble after 10 weeks. It would be repaired and work for another 10 weeks, then go back to the repair shop. It was still being "fixed" free when we gave up on it.
The Panasonic spoils you for anything else. The Commercial Advance and Movie Advance features are marvelous. You'll never be able to sit through an untaped show again.
We don't know how these features work. We think they get a signal from the TV stations and movie tapes. Sometimes the signals don't come through and you have to fast-forward with the remote or stop the Commercial Advance with the remote. Once in a while the CA will come on in the middle of a scene but this is rare. The Movie Advance has to search for the beginning of the film but it always finds it.
This machine provides better sound than our JVC TV does alone and it is top-of-the-line. Both are in a room with high ceilings and a wall of windows. This means that the sound quality is not a good as it would be in a room with low ceilings and few windows. I suspect in such a room the sound quality would rate a 5.
I've seen complaints because this VCR does not display the counter when recording. This is not a problem because the Search feature never fails to find the next program on your tape.
