There was a day not to long age that I absolutely swore by the Sennheiser 600. I had spent a lot of time trying to like the RS1 but found it fatiguing and felt the soundstage was exaggerated, bass bloated and just not worth the money. So they sat on the headphone rack and the 600 sat on my head like a crown. Well much to my surprise Grado Labs designed some new pads and they make a big difference. What seemed to be bloated and exaggerated suddenly became focused and well balanced. Detail became superb and the bass was much tighter and better focused. The fatigue was gone and long listening sessions became a pleasure rather than a grueling marathon. I now can realize the value of these headphones!!!
The RS1 is a sharp looking supraural headphone with mahogany enclosure and leather headband. Early on they came in an equally impressive box but instead now come in a plain box but include a 15 ft Grado headphone extension and a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter for portable use. They are open design offering zero isolation so they are not recommended in loud environments but boy do they sing in a quiet room. At 32 ohms they are easy to drive and can even be used with portable equipment (and sound very good!) but mine will be reserved for the safer home use. Though easy to drive a headphone amp (I use a HeadRoom Max) makes them even more fabulous. Their frequency response is 12-30K.
I have now done a full about face on the RS1 and will be enjoying their company much more and recommend you do so also...
