Being a long term Sennheiser 580/600 fan who prefer classic and jazz, I shun Grado for a long time. Finally, get a pair of RS-1 (see my review of RS2).
The thing is a beauty of both sound and visual! Yes, I'm aware of the coloration of sound. But it somehow sweeten the music which all matters. The upper range is more refined than 600 and bottom is warmer (slighted bloated also) verse Sennheiser fast/controlled style. Thus, I'm using 600 now for classic while RS-1 for all other ocassions.
However, Grado has new pads come out in Feb. According to Tyll (prez of Headroom) the pad change the sound dramatically and now even a RS-2 can beat Sennheiser 600 (for our groupie having taste for classic)!!
Now we can have pad-rolling on Grado to listen to different styles of music. The day my new pads arrive is the day Sennheiser 600 be put on eBay! Stay tuned and I will post update after receiving new pads.
