mad-scientist's Full Review: Grado SR-125 Professional Headphones
I recently purchased the Grado-SR 125's and I have been grinning from ear to ear ever since. These are the "middle-of-the-road" headphones from Grado Labs, but the SR 125's are light years ahead of the high-end headphones you might find at a large electronics chain store. If you are used to listening to your music through a mini component system or through a set of pre-packaged "Circuit-City" head phones, you have to try a pair of Grado's.
The SR 125's give a very clear unmolested reproduction of any quality recording, and should make most audiophiles and sound-junkies smile. The Sr 125's produce lows that are deep and plush, while not as round as Grado's more expensive models. The mids are very colorful and crystal clear while the highs are exceptionally brilliant.
One important thing to note about the Grado line is that they are all open-air designs, so if you're looking for something to drown out the noises of your surroundings, these just won't do. On the other hand, if you love to sit back in a quiet room and be enveloped by your favorite music, by all means give the SR 125's a try.
If you're in the market for a set of headphones a few steps ahead of the chain store offerings, but can't spend over $200, a set the SR 125's will add a new dimension to your music collection.
