Your review has hit all the bases! I personally use the newer, thicker, beveled hard-foam pads (with the center cut out of them) from the Grado SR-80 and higher models on my pair of SR-60's. Authorized Grado resellers sell those replacement pads alone for about $15. The replacement soft-foam pads (which cover the entire driver) cost about $10, but they muffle the sound of the more expensive Grado headphones (unless you cut a hole in them).
