violeta88's Full Review: Grado SR80 Professional Headphones
The Grado SR-80 has long been known as the sound winner in the $100 price range but the earpads sucked. Well, that has just changed. You see folks, I just bought a pair and mine were shipped with Grado's comfy earpads. And they did not degrade the sound like they do with the SR-60's. Maybe Grado changed the design a little. The only degredation I heard was a slight "veiling" of the treble, which was the purpose of the old earpad to correct. I guess you can't have everything. But, there is still plenty of treble and they sound wonderful. They sound excellent with every type of music, especially soul and other slow music. Fast tempo music sounds great too, because of the Grado's excellent sense of energy and timing. The bass is powerful, yet tight. You owe it to yourself to go out there and at least audition a pair of SR-80's. You won't regret it.
