sniperxx's Full Review: Bose QuietComfort 2 Consumer Headphones
I'm a special agent assigned to a one of President cabinet members. This particular cabinet member travels almost as much as all of the rest of the cabinet combined! So to say I know some of the pilots from United, American, and Delta Airlines by first name is a running joke within the airline industry.
I knew that the noise that came from the planes motors (engines, or jet engines) couldn't be good for you. Sometimes after traveling from Washington DC to California, or some other locations with 5 or more hours of travel time, I felt like total crap when I exited the plane.
I heard about the Bose Quietcomfort headphones and thought that it would be nice to try "something" that would help with the "jet lag" or "air fatigue" that I expierenced when I flew on advances for my boss.
For Christmas, my wife surprised me with the headphones.
I got to try them out on my next trip, which was to San Francisco, CA.
As soon as the plane took off from Dulles Airport, I donned my headphones, sat back and prayed that the system worked! I plugged the headphones to the airplanes easy listening music, and was really surprised as too how well the system really worked!
All of the noise that the planes engines emitted was eliminated. I could hear people around me talking, but it was as if I was in a small chamber, isolated from the rest of the cabin, with nothing but soothing music to calm my nerves.
The headphones somehow cancels out the roar of the airplane by emitting a "sound" that is transmited by switching on the system. This "system" is powered by 2 AAA batteries, (provided by Bose) that if not placed in the "low" or "high" setting, will not work.
The headphones weight about 5 ounces, and are fully adjustable. They fit snug on your ears, and the soft padding makes for a nice solid and airtight fit.
The only problem I had with the system was after wearing the headphones for a period of time (about 2 hours or so) my ears really started to get hot! I took them off for about 2-3 minutes and was fine. But man when I took them off...I COULD TELL THE DIFFERENCE! That plane sounded like a darn freight train to me!
I now can't part with my headphones. I don't honestly know why I took so long to get this wonderful item! (Well I do know, cheap, cheap, cheap, but thats another story). I'm so glad my wife loves me!!!!
For all of you that travel, these are a must. Forget the price, (ok, ok, I have some nerve).
But seriously, if you travel often and are required to work as soon as you touch down, GET THESE HEADPHONES, YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY!!!
