| multispace's Full Review: Sennheiser HD-490 Consumer Headphones |
Just received my Sennheiser 490's in the mail. Bought them on uBid for $40. Good price, yeah. But after thirty seconds of listening to them, I am completely unimpressed and rather disappointed by: 1) shoty build of the headphones. If you're looking for something you can actually feel in your hand, this isn't it. I thought I was going to break them putting them on my head. and 2) The main reason to wear headphones is so YOU can enjoy the music, NOT everyone else in the room. They totally leaked out a huge amount of sound and defeated the whole purpose behind me buying a pair of headphones. The sound was also not all that impressive either. I was only listening to a 128 Kb/s MP3 on my computer and not some HDCD on a $5000 system, but they didn't show me anything my $20 Sony earbuds didn't do better. The bass response on those were clearer and more powerful. My final opinion... not worth the $40+ I paid on uBid, and definately not worth the $129 list price.
