| nikabud's Full Review: Sony MDR-G72LP Consumer Headphones |
Sony has and always will be one of my favorites, and this company never stops when it comes to customer satisfaction. I own a Sony Minidisc player and the headphones that came with them were terribly uncomfortable, so I bought these headphones to replace them. I didn't say Sony was perfect with every product they made, such as the headphones that came with my player, but they make products that are based on the average person's structure. Sony came through strong with these headphones.
I know that other people, like myself, want the best, especially when it comes to great sound quality. The Sony "behind your head" headphones go a step further and make the pair of headphones stylish, comfortable, and producers of great sound. I have read that other owners of this product were not satisfied with the sound, most likely because their headphones prior to these were "cup" headphones, which in my opinion are the tackiest yet most comfortable and best sound producers. I won't argue with that, but for the non-intense music listener, I was completely satisfied with most every aspect of this excellent device. These Sony headphones display what I call the 3 pillars of a good audio product: comfort, style, and sound.
Comfort
The Sony headphones are the perfect example of something you would forget you were wearing and then search everywhere for them, only to realize you are wearing them! This has happened a couple times, to me anyway. Compared to the headphones that are inserted into your ear and are made of hard plastic, these headphones don't cause irritability to your ear.
There are even rubber ear pieces that fit over your ear to secure the headphones in place. If you don't wear the headphones correctly, these ear pieces become your enemy. At first, these ear pieces were the devil because I always wore them wrong and I thought that I just had a deformed ear, but it was just that I wasn't wearing them right.
Style & Sound
As always, Sony headphones, like its other products, have a design that stands out above the rest. With this unique style, Sony tops the market with this all-around style for anyone at any age. They aren't high-tech or old-fashioned, but neutral and stylish at the same time. These headphones are black, gray, and there is a little silver on them. After these headphones came out, they introduced others exactly like it that are blue or pink. The phones themselves that emanate the sound are slightly large, but the purpose for that is to give more fullness to the sound being heard.
If you're looking for clear sound, Sony has the right product. These headphones are ones that don't feel cheap, they have actual weight, but they aren't heavy. Maybe you could get a better set of headphones, but you'd only end up buying something terribly expensive and you'd be visible a mile away with the huge "cup" headphones. I suggest the Sony "behind the head" style headphones because they strike the perfect balance of sound between the cup headphones and the ear-inserted headphones. The sound is quite acceptable and the only real test is to discover its audio capabilities by purchasing one yourself and at a not very expensive price.
All in all, the headphones far surpass any normal set of headphones and can bring great sound quality and comfort with the added bonus of great style. I know you'll enjoy these once you have them because they are an excellent pair that will last for a very long time. Once again, Sony has proved to be the best in creating headphones and and pleasing its customers.
