This is more of a complaint than a service request. Many years ago, I think it was 1992,1993 I purchased set of headphones, model # RDM-V200. These were the BEST headphones I have ever purchased, I loved them. I still to this day regret not getting the $100 model. I used these headphones ALL THE TIME. They were almost indestructible, but time took its toll and the vinyl cover was gone one side broke so I taped it up and it was o.k. They were uncomfortable to use now. So about a year ago it go to the point I figured it was time for new headphones. So I figured that I such great luck with Sony before, I might as well go with what I know works good. I went to Best Buy and got the current equivalent, so I got the MDR-V300. They sounded the same, I was pleased with that. I could tell that the construction was not the same though. with in 3 months of use they were broken. One of the sides became loose. the V200 were unreal, I beat the crap out of them and I never had a problem. Before I got he V200 I went though headphones like crazy, at least a new set every few months. The V300 still sound good, but they have been taped and super glued to keep them together. I have just recently contemplated purchasing a competitors brand.
I have been a big fan of Sony products for many years. My 1st CD player was in my car and that was a Sony. That has been used and re-used in many cars over the years and keeps working. I even had to shell out $80.00 for a new cable so I can keep using it.
This is not a "I'm looking for something free" email. Just wanted to express my displeasure with your reduced manufacturing quality over the years. The V200 were by far the BEST headphones I have EVER USED.
