afterbargains's Full Review: Sony MDR-V300 Professional Headphones
I read all the reviews on these headphones before deciding on them. I wanted phones to use with my portable CD that would block out external sounds from TV and other similar sources. I assumed that the high ratings given to these phones by the majority of reviewers would negate the few poor ratings they received. Also, while the ear cups appeared to be small for studio monitors, I have small ears so I assumed the cups would fit better and render better sound.
I was wrong. After wearing the MDR V300 for 10 minutes I became convinced that the poor ratings were more than justified. The bass is extremely muddy across the whole low frequency range with an annoying boom quality. Furthermore, the headphones do not fit well. They are too tight and uncomfortable. External sounds were not diminished significantly because the ear cup did not fully enclose the ear, but just rested uncomfortably on the ear. I doubt if I could tolerate them for a full CD playing time.
Overall, the Sony MRD V300 headphones were a big disappointment. I would rate the street set that came with my Aiwa CD player as much better in sound quality and comfort. Needless to say, I returned the V300's to Best Buy and thanks to their wonderful return policy, I got my money back with no questions asked.
