| Greeno's Full Review: Sony CDP-CX350 300-Disc CD Changer |
As my collection of CDs passed 200 discs, I longed for an easier way to manage my music (I had previously owned a Pioneer 6-disc magazine PDM-90X Changer); At the time, I had accumulated about 40 of the magazines, so I kept all of my discs in the magazines, and tracked what was where on my PC. As the collection passed 400 discs, this was still (mostly) convenient, however, I found that I often repeated the same few magazines too frequently.
I eventually purchased the Pioneer PDF-900 which held 100 discs. The 900 did not retain the programming, and it was rather limited, but I "enjoyed" the 100-disc shuffle for a while. By then, my collection was passing 900 discs, and I REALLY needed a better management system. I had considered a JVC 200-disc model that daisy-chained 3 unites together for 600 CDs, but it was too flimsy & too noisy. I then considered the Pioneer PDF-1007 (301 CDs), but after an in-store demo, I thought that it just lacked certain programming features I wanted.
I eventually decided on the Sony CDP-CX350 (300 CDs) which will daisy-chain to another for a total of 600 CDs. With two units, there is virtually no "dead-air" between shuffled tracks, and it's programming is very flexible - It accepts a PC keyboard for manual input of Titles OR it can connect to the internet via CDDB and download the titles (via a 3rd party product). Group File & Custom File are great for saving mood-styles and the "Hit List" lets you program a set of tracks for instant recall. The remote Commander has it's own display that repeats the track title (great in dark settings - or if your eye sight is dimming!)
The system loads very easily, and I haven't mentioned the sound....
Operation is VERY quiet - much quieter that my two Pioneers or the JVC. Sound is better than my ears can detect, so I strongly endorse this unit.
