The Sony CD player (CDP-CX57) works very good with the Sony Receiver. Problems with the CD Player include the CD Text function, though a nice toy, doesn't work too well. Of the Seventy or so CD's I have only ONE had the CD text encoded in it. The manual entry isn't too difficult but when the CD is moved the text is deleted. The sound quality in the D/A is good, but the final quality depends more on your speakers and amplifier/receiver. In the CD bank there is are a few colored lights that give the CD's a nice look especially at night. Sony's S-Link system is a bit misleading, it does NOT transmit information like PLAY or Rewind or such from the receiver to the CD Player. So you Must have the CD player exposed for it to be controlled with the remote. But it is fully compatible with the Sony Receiver Remote (LCD from the STR-DE825)
