| meanbeast's Full Review: Technics SL-MC70 60-Disc CD Changer |
A few months ago I decided I needed a CD changer for my 90+ CD collection, but I had no idea what to look for in one. The first reason I decided to look at the Technics MC7 was because it could hold 110+1 CDs, which is enough to house my collection and allow room for it to grow, but not as expensive as a 200 CD changer, which would be far more than I needed.
As I started looking closer, the Technics MC7 began to look even more appealing. While I was not familiar with the Technics brand (I'm not too into electronics), the features more than made up for the lack of name recognition. It allows you to change the CDs while one is playing, and unlike many changers, has most of the commands on the changer itself, as well as the remote (especially good for those that always lose remotes).
There are also five groups (A,B,C,D,E) that you can organize your CDs into.. rock, rap, classical, etc. Another excellent feature is the "program." Press a button while one of your favorite songs is playing, and it is added to the program.. up to 32 songs can be added. The MC7 also allows you to program in disc/artist names for all your CDs, and let's you search through them.
My favorite feature *by far* is random play. There is the standard one-disk random, than there is full random. Since I am a person that favors maybe 10 CDs, and listens only to them, this allowed me to listen to *all* my CDs, which has made me go back and relisten to some CDs which turned out to be better than I thought. The discs also change very quickly (2-3 seconds).
The Technics MC7 also has some goodies to help you stay organized. It comes with a liner notes organizer, with little stickers to let you know which slot the CD is in. This was great for me, because it allowed me to not only quickly find out which number each CD is, but also to keep all my liner notes in one place, so I could easily look up track listings, lyrics, etc.
The Technics SL-MC7 is an excellent choice for anyone who is looking for a CD changer around the 100 CD range. It not only holds more CDs than most other changers around it's price range, but it has better features than them too.
