| gd134's Full Review: harman/kardon FL8350 5-Disc CD Changer |
The Harman Kardon FL-8350 was a birthday gift that I thought would provide me with years of quality music. Unfortunately, this was hardly the case. The following is a list of the major problems that I experienced with this product:
Disc Recognition -
I bought this CD player with the hopes of getting a player that would last a long time and be worth my money. When the CD player was working, there was a long seek time. I hate how the player goes through a disc detection routine each time tray opens up. Even when I skipped tracks it took a long time to recognize the next song. Then, within 9 months of purchase the new CD player was not reading, and giving me messages of "no-disc" when I had 5 in the tray.
Quality & Service -
I strongly urge you to avoid all Harmon/Kardon products. Through my experiences I have found them to have bad quality control, horrible customer service, and terrible authorized repair centers. My player only had a 30-day warranty on parts and when it broke after about a year, I had to pay extra to have it repaired.
Skipping -
Before my player broke I often had trouble reading discs. There is nothing more frustrating then having a CD player that skips. What's the point of having a CD player if you get constant interruptions?
Reliability -
By reading all the other problems I have had with the Harman Kardon FL-8350, you will see that this machine is not reliable. I have many friends who have found the same to be true. If you are looking for a reliable machine, please spend a little more cash and go with a SONY. You can do comparative shopping online at http://www.cnet.com and save a lot of cash.
CONCLUSION:
Since I bought this product, I have had nothing but trouble. The Harman Kardon FL-8350 is not a well designed machine. I strongly urge you to go with a name-brand CD player such as SONY, even if it costs you a little more. I don't normally bash a product like this, but I have heard to many bad review of Harman Kardon products.
