| mattyork28's Full Review: Technics SL-PD688 5-Disc CD Changer |
I originally recieved my Technics CD Player a couple of years ago as a gift and it still works like new. At the time I didn't need the most expensive CD player on the market. I wanted something that held five CDs at a time and played decent quality music. I found this in the Technics CD Player I recieved.
The music quality is great for the price of the CD player. The sound is good enough but there is a difference between this CD player and really expensive ones. Of course, their is a huge difference in the price of this CD player and those really expensive ones. I believe the S/N ratio is in the high 90s or low 100s so you can expect good sound even with a decent or high end stereo system.
The Technics CD Player does have a few useful features. It holds five CDs which is common for today's CD players. I like CD players that hold five or six CDs compared to ones that hold 25+ because of the response time. There are times when I will put a bunch of CDs in the player and shuffle them throughout all five CDs. With the Technics CD Player this is quick and the "blanktime" within sounds is at a minimum. With large capacity CD players, this pause is drawn out between songs and is actually annoying if you are at a party and want the music to be continuous.
The Technics CD Player comes with the usual features found on any CD player. There is the shuffle and repeat buttons. There is the track finder and fast forward and rewind. These are all to be expected on any CD player on the market so it doesn't really make this player stand out in anyway.
One feature that I really do enjoy is the continuous play option. This allows you to load new discs while one CD still plays. This is a really nice feature when throwing a party instead of having to stop the music everytime you want to change the CDs in the player.
Another great thing I like about the Technics CD Player is the durability. As I said earlier, i've had this CD player for a couple years and nothing has gone wrong. Usually the laser will at least need cleaning every couple of years and even this has not happened. The player seems to keep the dust out of it really well.
Overall, if you are looking for a low cost CD player that is high is quality, check out the Technics CD Player.
