I love this portable CD player!!!! I have no other way of saying this...
Well, this is the story of me and my Aiwa. I used to own an Audiologic portable CD player, but it just kept skipping. Before I went off to college, I figured I needed to get a brand new portable CD player. As I said in one of my other reviews, I worked at a local electronics store. So I based my judgement on what people returned, serviced, and of course what my coworkers suggested. That finally led me to the Aiwa XP-R100.
Now the cool thing about this product is that it has a radio built in into it. I'm not sure if you're too familiar with this, but most portable CD players lack a radio. Having a radio built in is pretty convenient. So while i'm walking from class to class, and for some reason get sick of the CD I have in there, I can always stop the CD player and turn on the radio. In addition, you can store 30 stations. That's very useful for me because I can store radio stations from both home and school. Pretty cool, don't you think?!?
About the skipping... Thus far it hasn't given me many problems. It has a 10 second anti-skip device. I have used the CD player while on a bus that appears to have no shocks on it, and it didn't skip at all.
I've also dropped it a couple of times(yeah...i fell asleep and whoops, it fell) The first time I dropped it, I was so afraid that I may have damaged something. But to no avail, it was fine. It still worked like a charm. I dropped it again a couple of weeks later and it still worked fine...if I may say so myself, this CD player is very durable
With the unit, comes the headphones. These headphones are not those conventional headband type headphones. Aiwa calls them "swoops." What's so special about these headphones is that it goes around the head. Ok that probably doesn't makes sense. But from one speakers (which goes in your ear) this plastic piece goes around your ear, around the back of your head, around the other ear, and to the other speaker. You probably can't imagine it still...just go see for yourself. The "swoop" headphones are particularly beneficial if you don't want to ruin your hair or something.
The only problem I've had so far is that it will not read my N'Sync and Sarah McLachlan's Mirrorball CD. I have no idea why. But that will not dampen my review for this CD player.
I've let my roommate and friends borrow this CD player. They all loved it. In fact, my roommate actually bought the exact same one because she liked it so much!!!
So overall, this is a very good CD player for the price you're paying for it. It has everything that most people would want in a portable CD player: Anti-Skip, radio, programming...
