I bought this player after trying the SONY DF-411 and found similar dislikes. The sound quality was marginal, even with the bass boost on high the bass sound was very thin. The player skips too easily when walking and the radio reception is awful. On the plus side the XP-R100 is a good size and does not use batteries too quickly. It also felt a little more sturdy than the Sony, but still would not take any serious abuse. I'd buy this over the Sony, but neither one is a great deal. For a hundred bucks you'd be better off buying a good CD player and a small radio.
