I wanted a portable CD Player for a long time, one of those things where you really want it, but not quite enough to spend the money. Well finally I received it for my birthday.
The Facts
This CD Player is a very basic model.
It offers random, repeat but no programmable settings.
It does offer search mode: hold down the skip button and it will fast forward, rewind through the track.
The Pros
The CD Player is very durable, it's been dropped several times and still functions fine.
It delivers great quality in music just as one would expect.
The music continues to play right up until the batteries die, I've found that it usually dies when changing tracks.
For those who don't like a lot of complexity this CD Player is one of the simplest I've found.
It's fairly Cheap for CD Players, it's a great CD Player for those not interested in features.
The battery life can be quite considerable, but it all depends on the type of battery you use. Energizer & Duracell seem to be the longest lasting, usually around 40+ hours of listing. Be aware that I've found that skipping back and forth uses a lot more battery power.
It is actually fairly fast at starting up a CD, about 2 seconds from spinup to playing.
I've also found it to have no problems whatsoever with CD-R CDs, where some CD Players have a problem reading them.
It doesn't have any problem with scratched CDs, It's never skipped or caused a problem to me. I quite often put the same CD into my computer and it ends up skipping quite a bit.
The Cons
I honestly didn't even realize the player had 3 seconds of buffer for anti-skipping. It responds almost exactly the same to one that doesn't have it at all.
I found that when I put it in my backpack and walk normally it tends to skip quite a bit, however walking smoothly works fine.
The quality of sound as the batteries get close to dying seems to grow raspy.
I wish there was a better system of letting you know the batteries were dying like an auditory beep.
The lid is fairly fragile, I could see someone clipping the Player when it's open and the lid could snap off, although this has not happened to me.
In Conclusion
This CD Player is Basic! For people who are looking for such a CD Player, they won't be dissapointed, it definately delivers what one expects. However most people nowadays are looking for more then the basic operation, this Player will simply not deliver to those people.
Quality is great, Battery Life depends on the type used, but for Energizer and Duracell, it lasts a considerable time, but generally speaking it lasts 40+ with those batteries.
Also, for those like myself who enjoy listening to their own CD-R CDs, I've never experienced any problem with them loading in this CD Player, it's actually the most reliable CD Player I have for that purpose.
