| HyperFox's Full Review: Panasonic ShockWave SL-SW405 Personal CD Player |
I received this as a Christmas gift this year. I desperatly needed one to replace my aging Sony Discman.
First off I will state that the sound quality in its headphones is excellent and gices very good bass and treble, it turns astounding with the XBS switched on.
But after 3 months, I dropeed it, 3 feet from the
ground where it broke open. Its internal button broke
off. (Thats the button where the cd snaps into.) It's
Small ball bearings bounced off, never to be seen
again. and of course, the disc wont stay in without
them. I phoned Panasonic and was re-directed 3 times
and found out they will not sell this peice individually.
They will however sell the laser assembly and motor for
90 bucks. So my new cd player now collects dust on my desk.
Maybe it was a lemon.
However, The headphones durability is surprising, I
frequently step on them by accident and they always bounce back. And the top strap has a split in it, which the button on hats (the "smartie") conveinently fits into. Bonus.
However it is a bit bulky and heavy to carry around.
