| steven9988's Full Review: Panasonic SL-SX460 Personal CD Player |
I recieved this baby 3 years ago for my birthday. Back when I listened to nothing but MTV pop music. Now my tastes have changed completely and to realize I'm still using the same portable cd player throughout all the albums and bands I've went through is amazing. This player is like a brother to me. *sniff*
This player doesn't have many special features. No radio feature (although there is an exact cd player with this) or MP3 stuff but if you are looking for just a great cd player for solely your cds, then this baby is it. The one thing that I looked for in a cd player was skip protection. Although this isn't the full, guarantee skip protection it's the second best available and very rarely skips. In fact, the only times I can remember it skipping was when I tried to make it skip just for kicks. And it apologizes to you when it does occasionally do so. (hehe)
One great thing I love about the player is that it's about as small as they can get. The cd fits in just perfectly that if it was any smaller it would go over the edges. This is great for when I'm cleaning up the house or something and I can easily fit it into my pocket. At the time I purchased it was the smallest cd player available. I'm not sure if that statement is still true.
The durability has surprised me beyond belief. I have dropped this thing down stairs, dragged it along concrete surfaces, threw it against walls (when angry, sorry player, forgive me) and it has only suffered minor scratches on the top that can only be seen at certain angles of light. I consider myself an avid user of the player since I can barely last 2 hours without music and the player has definatelly exceeded the time I expected it to last.
It comes with rechargeable batteries which have definately saved me loads of money and it recharges fast and lasts quite a long time. It lasts at least a long car ride if charged properly. (and by long car ride I mean 12+ hours, yeah I travel quite a bit)
I've never once had a problem with the sound quality, it reads every disc well and I've never even thought about it being slightly dissapointing or poor quality until now and it definately isn't.
There are probably updated version of this cd player considering it's age and I'm sure they must be nothing but better so I would definately recommend those. If you are looking for a radio feature there is a model that does include it that should only be a tad bit more expensive. I bought it 3 years ago for 120 bucks, if you are looking for this exact player it should be found cheaper, if they are even still selling it. Either way, definately pick up this or a later model if you are in need of a durable, easy portable, quality sounding cd player.
