I was in a need for a new CD-Player, so I went comparison shopping for awhile. My primary concerns were size and skip protection. After comparing various Discman models, I finally settled in this. Here are my impressions:
First of all, this thing is very thin. That is the first thing that you will notice about it. No doubt about it, when it first came out it was one of the slimest CD players available. You can slide it into your jean pocket perfectly without a hitch.
The battery life lasts a good few hours for me but I always seem to find it running out of juice (the batteries can recharge in the player). However, the CD player comes with a battery expansion pack which extends the life a great deal. The downside to this is that when the battery pack is attatched (on the back of the player), it makes it noticeably larger.
The headphones that come with the player are not that great, what I did was invest about $70 into a better pair.
The advertised skip protection is true, I found it very hard to skip this player even though I run and rollerblade with it frequently.
The durability however of the player I found to be lacking. With little more than a half years usage, my player was having trouble reading discs. I discovered that a spring (that flips the cd case) had fallen out, and soon after the laser was misaligned. Granted this player fell off a desk once (so yours probably won't have these problems unless yours also falls off a desk), I still question its durability.
