I needed a quality tape player from Yamaha because I wanted to run everything with the remote for my Yamaha receiver. The remote from my Yamaha receiver (RX-V393) allows me to run the cd player and the tape deck. I searched the yamaha line and then looked them up on the net. I read about 10 reviews and nobody disliked the product. I haven't had any problems with it but will change this if I ever do. There probably are better tape decks out there, but for the price this one should be considered. I also like the record lights on the display. I record when the light is just hitting red on the loud spots of songs. I've been making some mixed tapes lately and the sound from this thing is really good. I tape on the Maxell XLII and It is hard to tell the difference between tape and CD. I've been very happy with my Yamaha system. I like to try and read up on the products I purchase so wanted to write something about this one. Most of the consumers seemed to be pleased. I got a really good deal on this thing. Sears had it on closeout for $69.00.
