I received my Sharp video recorder two weeks after I gave birth to my twins. It was one of the most well thought out gifts I had ever gotten. I had one full month of running back and forth to the NICU to visit my twins, and I taped everyday.
The Sharp liquid crystal display camcorder comes with the following features:
*Buttons: Reverse, fast forward, play, stop, quick return, record start/stop, fade, off, vcr, camera, and volume control control/wide screen
*Additional features: Zoom, Remaining recording time display/battery power display, playback (with volume), remote control, date/time, black shot (10 second recording), Backlight compensation, Superimposing title option, and auto/manual focus.
* This Unit comes with: Battery pack, ac adapter/battery charger, dc output cable, remote control, audio/video cable, 2 lithium batteries, Lens cap, and neck/shoulder strap. It also comes with a 90 day warranty on parts and labor.
The instruction booklet is very well illustrated and easy to use for us women. If you learn how to use all the features on this model, you will be able to make a wonderful recording of your lives. You use 8mm tapes, and then have to put them on regular video cassettes, OR you can just watch it on your camcorder. I love this feature. It is a very inexpensive unit with the cost being around $400. The quality of picture seems to be very good.

I am quite certain there are more expensive and more advanced camcorders on the market, but for us, this gift was just perfect! I would recommend this unit to anyone in the market for a camcorder. And seeing as it is an older model, you can probably get it cheap. It has been indispensable in our home, and in our lives. I wouldn't trade mine for anything.
