Pros: Easy to hook up to other devices. Great for personal/semi professional use.
Cons: Pricey, since its a Sony. Some features won't get used. Viewscreen could be larger.
The Bottom Line: Get it. Its worth the money to buy a Sony. You'll appreciate its quality.

| hmdonald's Full Review: Sony Handycam CCD-TRV87 Hi-8 Analog Camcorder |
I use this camera for digital video. Although its not a digital video camera, Hi8 works fine for me. I use a video to firewire converter connected to my Mac, and I am able to import video very easily. I can also export my completed video to the camera, in case I wanted to copy the video to Hi8 tape.
Playback is great, and the viewscreen is a decent size, but could be larger.
This camera is good for anyone who wants a little more than to tape their child's birthday. If you think you would like to take taping to another level, with built in effects, titles, etc, and you don't have a computer solution, use this camera.
The weight of the camera is acceptable. Button placement is organized depending on what you want to do. For example, all effects buttons are close to each other; playback buttons are in another section, etc.
I also have a remote, which is cool when I plug the device into a TV, and need play control.
