| tkerodd's Full Review: Sony Handycam CCD-TRV87 Hi-8 Analog Camcorder |
As soon as we found out our first child was on the way, my wife wanted to get a camcorder. I was skeptical. Camcorders can be expensive, and I wondered whether we really needed one. Now that I have had it for around 9 months, I don't how anyone can get by without one, especially with a baby in the house.
The camera has a 330X zoom, nightshot, and image stabilization, all of which are great features in a camcorder. The image stabilization is the key, because I have seen video shot without it - not pretty. We all have that little shake in our hands when holding the camera, and the stabilization takes that away completely in your finished product.
Learning to use this camera is a cinch! You don't really need to read the instruction book if you don't just want to. There is a menu that you can access on the viewfinder that shows you every feature there is, from subtitles to date/time to various filming modes (such as reversed image or fuzzy imaging). It is the closest thing to point and click that I have ever seen in a camera.
I am so pleased with the videos of my new baby. They will be treasures for me in the years to come. This product is perfect for the new family, or even for taking on vacations or other events. It is small and light, which makes for easy travel.
If you are going to get a camcorder, you need to look at SONY first. When looking at SONY, this is the best of the bunch!
