Sony’s CCD-TRV43 is a great camera for your money. With Hi8 recording this camera delivers great picture (320,000 pixels) and high quality sound. It is equipped with easy to use features like SteadyShot, NightShot and LaserLink Wireless Receiver. Other companies like Canon, Panasonic and JVC make great cameras, but I have tried them all and the features that are equipped with Sony cameras are of higher quality. The SteadyShot feature, which regardless to the jerky movements of the camera steadies the shot, is available with other companies’ models, but works much better on the Sony cameras. I have watched home movies using SteadyShot from Sony and another company, but the Sony movie was substantially more professional, making it more enjoyable to watch. Another cool feature available with this camera is NightShot, which allows you to record with 0 lux (total darkness). The one thing I dislike is the LCD screen size. I feel that 2.5 inches is all right but nothing better.Another option is Mini DV which is of higher quality but costs more money. I chose to get the Hi8 rather Mini DV for Three reasons. 1)costs much less 2) the DV media is around 5 times the price 3) I find it easier to use. The camera one should get should depend on the features and price s/he wants and for me this camera had the best features and a great price.
