Digital Video has come of age.I had been reluctant to purchase DV in the past but when I came upon the Panasonic DV910 I was instantly attracted to the three inch LCD monitor. The clarity of the picture relative to others of higher price was comparable and in two instances better. The store I purchased the DV camcorder from, matched the $100.00 dollar cheaper price of it's competitor.($899.00) The reason I bought DV was to help in the post production of an instructional video series for release in 2000'. Compared to the VHS camcorder I was accustomed to, the audio, video, and monitor are far superior. The monitor swivels to avail the subject of the video, unrestricted viewing. A mini remote allows for control of two palmcorders. DV however is no friend to the person with flaws. The detail of the video is so finite that the smallest flaw shows up. While video flattens that which it records, this ability to show detail helps, in my opinion,return some of the depth often lost in other formats. I love the flexibilty for playback and the nine digital functions. I just returned from Key West where I was filming on my friend's 50' Motor Yacht. We spent several days in the Gulf and the Atlantic. The Digital Electronic Image Stabilization System made the movement of the boat minimal in wide angle, though the 300X zoom made for difficulties staying centered on the object being taped. I have no experience with downloading video to my computer yet. When I can share those experiences I'll be happy to. The still shot feature makes possible frozen moments in time. I guess the click is supposed to remind us of an older camera (cute). I would recommend the Panasonic DV-910 to anyone wanting economic, light weight,quality DV with flexibilty for family or business. Digtal Video has come of age and the possibilties are endless.
