| briget's Full Review: Panasonic PV-L559 VHS-C Analog Camcorder |
My husband and I needed a small video camera when our son started playing soccer. Never would I consider lugging our VHS shoulder camcorder to the field and try to enjoy the game, too. BUT I didn't want to go 8MM. A friend of mine bought an 8mm palmcorder, but to actually view her tapes really seemed like a hassle. I wanted the convenience of popping my tape in the VCR when I was done recording.
And VOILA! I spotted the Panasonic PV-L559 in the hands of someone at an amusement park -- and they didn't have the recorder pressed against one eye, either. They had the camera comfortably in front of them recording with the LCD window instead! If I wasn't sold right then, it was definitely when I found out it was VHS capable -- which means it comes with a VHS PlayPak, a case that goes in the VCR and the tape goes in the PlayPak. How wonderfully simple!!
So I went to check one out at the store and found that the price was VERY reasonable. I held it in my hand and it was very secure there. And light. The buttons you needed were right there and easy to use: Zoom, camera, record, etc. The picture on the LCD monitor was exquisite and the sound was clear. It has a phrase titler for "fancying up" your videos, so you can get creative or just follow your kids around like I do! It also comes with a 2 hour battery, unlike others that I've seen that can only record an hour or less. Of course there's always the option of using the AC adaptor if need be.
