| holepuncher's Full Review: Canon Elph2 APS Film Camera |
So after reading many epinions, I purchased an ELPH2 camera. Now, two years later I thought I would do my part and contribute.
So what can I say about the ELPH2? I bought it because of it's compactness. I will give you some background information. I carry it with me everywhere I go. I am rough and tumble(tend to break things). My pics usually are pics of groups of people. I prefer to be in my pictures.
There are 3 problems I have encountered with the ELPH2. #2 is the most annoying one.
#1. The view finder is very small and impractical. Most would say this is because the camera is small. However true that maybe, it doesn't change the fact that it makes the camera harder to use. I can use it fine, but many people cannot. This problem is very apparent when you give the camera to someone to take the picture for you. The pics are usually off center or cut off. Another situation where this is very apparent is when you are using the timer. You place the camera down and then you have to try to look through the view finder to see if you have a good shot. Good luck trying that!
#2. On top of the smaller view finder, it is also not sealed well. Thus dust tends to get into the view finder making it blurry and even harder to see! This is quite annoying and perhaps my worst complaint. And note that I do have a camera bag I keep it in.
#3. Thirdly, sometimes your fingers cover the sensors and what not on the front of the camera.
#4. The night pictures don't turn out very well.
Many of the problems( #1 and #3 ) seem to be caused by the size of the camera and are tradeoffs for the convenience of compactness. So really my only complaint is the dust thing.
I do carry around my ELPH2 everywhere I go and it's size is what makes is so transportable. So I will shortly describe my favorite qualities of the ELPH2.
#1. It is tiny. You can keep it in your pocket and people will never know you have it. You will always have your camera when there is a picture moment! It is also great for sneaking into places with photo restrictions(museums and such).
#2. It looks cool. When you take it out, the girls always notice. Now if only I was as cool as my camera. hehe.
#3. It is durable. I have banged it around alot. I carry it with me everywhere. It is not broken. But it should be.
Most importantly would be benefit #1. If you have a bad memory like me and need pictures to document every colorful moment in your life, the ease of carrying the elph2 around will amaze you. I usually keep it in my cargo pocket. No man purse necessary.
So overall, despite a few annoyances, I would still highly recommend the ELPH2. It rocks.
