I have always owned a big, bulky Olympus camera that I sincerely love.
However, since I've decided to participate in the Avon 3-Day Breast Cancer walk, I wanted a camera that I could carry in my pouch to capture the moment.
I am totally into capturing the moment. I take pictures of everything and everyone. And so, I decided on the Canon Elph-2. I have not been dissatisfied.
Modes
This APS offers three modes: Classic Print, Wide Angle Print, and the Panorama Print. With just the turn of a notch you can change the type of picture that you take.
You can also take double prints of a favorite picture on the fly. I especially like this feature because I'm always giving away photos.
Features
The features that I like best is the 2X zoom lens. Even though, the zoom only goes to a range of 46mm, it fits the bill for outdoor shots. I do have to get closer than normal now.
I am experiencing problems with the flash feature. It appears that the photos are darker inside than normal. I have to admit that I haven't read
the details on the flash mode feature, but I'm not that happy with this yet. The flash has two settings: One that fires the flash each time you take a photo, and the other to set the flash off.
There is an auto flash mode without red-eye reduction, one with red-eye reduction, flash on and flash off (as previously mentioned), and slow sync with red-eye reduction for nighttime photos. My experience is that a tripod needs to be used with the slow sync feature.
The strap has a notch on it that allows you to press and select the features at the bottom of the camera. This is neat.
No need to have a lens cap. The lens are automatically closed when the camera is off. This is a good safety feature.
Data can be recorded on the film such as date recorded, print type, flash on/off, etc. There are titles that can be added onto a photo that are incorporated within the camera.
Titles come in Japanese, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and English lanuages. The titles are: I Love You, Thank You, Seasons Greetings, Congratulations, and Happy Birthday. Neat feature.
Overall, I am very happy with the camera. I throw it in my purse everyday and take pictures whenever. As I mentioned earlier, training for the walk has allowed me to document my journey for this glorious cause. The outdoor pictures are crisp and sharp. Colors are vivid.
