sourpuss's Full Review: Canon Elph 370Z APS Film Camera
I used to own a Canon Elan IIe full sized camera, but I got rid of it and only have the Elph 370Z now. And let me tell you that I'm very happy with my choice!
I'm not a professional photographer. The Elan IIe was way too much camera for me, and it didn't really take very good photos on full automatic mode compared to my Elph. With the Elph, you just point and shoot, and it does everything else for you.
Pros:
1. Stainless steel camera body is rugged and super cool looking.
2. Tiny size means you can carry the thing around in your pocket all day without even thinking about it. It opens up new opportunities to take photos, because you have it with you more often.
3. Takes excellent photos. I took a trip to Mexico with it and was extremely pleased with how all my photos turned out.
4. Good zoom range. 23 - 69mm zoom in a camera that's as small as a pack of cigarettes!
5. APS (Advanced Photo System) film means you can take regular pictures, slightly wider pictures, or landscape wide pictures. You can switch back and forth between different widths on the same roll of film. Mix and match all you want.
6. APS also puts a time and date stamp on the *back* of the photograph, so you know when you took it without having to see those ugly numbers on the front of the photo.
7. Easy to use. You don't have to take the owner's manual with you. It's simple to use for the basics. Reading the manual helps you quickly learn the more advanced features, but you can figure them out on your own too.
Cons:
1. Small flash. But hey, this is a small camera. It really isn't a problem. I just had to think of *something* that was a con.
2. APS film isn't as quick to get developed as regular 35 mm film. You can usually find a place that will do it the same day, but one hour isn't always available.
Summary:
I love this camera, and I think you will too. If you're like me -- someone who feels kind of stupid lugging around a huge camera because it makes you look like a tourist, then you'll be happy with the Elph. Just pull it quickly out of your pocket, take the shot, and put it away again. No one will ever know you aren't a local!
