BJMoose's Full Review: Canon Elph 370Z APS Film Camera
I bought the camera for one reason -- I wanted a point&shoot zoom camera that would fit in my pocket. Portability is KEY to me. If I've got the cam, I'll take the pix. But for most purposes, I'm unwilling to take any trouble lugging a camera. It just has to fit in my pocket. ELPH 370 is great in this regard, except that the rear-viewfinder protrusion has a tendency to hang up on my pocket. Makes the cam seem bigger than it really is.
I've shot one roll of film so far. Feature convenience and ease of use are up to snuff. Probs with earlier Elphs with badly place on/off switch, and insufficiently durable pop-up flash have been solved in the 370. 3x Zoom is very versatile. One beef: it's too hard to activate the "instant shoot" mode that is useful in sports or baby photography, where you want to pre-focus and preset the exposure, then INSTANTLY close the shutter when you click the shutter release. Once in this mode, it works fine.
Now the picture quality -- in natural light, there is a noticeable darkening of the corners of the photos. I suppose this can be expected with such a small, long telephoto, but it's still disappointing. And the lens is VERY slow, ranging from about F5 to F9. So you need to use fast film in this camera, if you want to avoid flash pictures on everything but the brightest days.
