I love this camera! I received it as a Christmas present last year and it has been with me ever since. It is fantastic for following the kids around and getting in fun action shots. It focuses itself so there is no annoying mom in the background saying, "Just a second, Honey, can you stand like that till Mommy gets the camera ready?"
You can also sneak in shots with the zoom.
The only thing that bothers me about the camera is that it will not always take the shot I want it to. If the light is bad, it will not take a picture. Also, it may be picky about the distance and re-set itself closer or further away to get a good shot. You almost can not take a bad picture with this camera.
For the money, it is worth it! It is a great first 'real' camera for those wanting to be able to take closer shots without shelling out mega-bucks for a camera with a detachable zoom lens.
