Introduction:
I received my camera as a gift from my parents about 5 years ago. It has worked great and I have never had any problems with it. It is easy to use and does a great job removing the red eye.
About the Red Eye Reduction:
I have blue eyes and whenever anyone takes a picture of me I always have red eyes. When my friends or family take a picture of me with my own camera, there is rarely any red eye. The technology that removes the red eye has to do with the flip up flash (called Cobra). When you are taking a photograph most people look directly at the camera and therefore directly at the flash. This gives the reflection and red eye. By moving the flash up above the subject, the angle of the flash is changed and you are less likely to get the annoying red eye pictures.
More Product Info:
I think this camera is a great product, I have never had a malfunction with the film or camera itself. The APS film ensures that I can get any of the 3 picture sizes I need (Classic, Group, and Panoramic). The drop-in loading is simple and faster than regular 35mm film loading and winding.
The camera itself is relatively small, and light. I have on occasion stuffed it into my pocket, but you can buy a small camera bag that will attach to your belt. This keeps the camera handy and out of your way.
My only Complaint:
A friend of mine has an older Advantix model camera that is no longer sold. During a trip to Las Vegas we each took several pictures of the lights in the city at night. Her camera had a special "night pictures" feature. She took a couple pictures with it activated, and a couple without. It made a huge difference. The pictures were a darker black and with more vivid lights.
I think the night view option changes how the flash is used and I think it also records this information onto the film. When the pictures were developed this information could be read from the film, and the pictures were developed knowing that they were taken at night. This feature is not available on my camera, but it is available on the C800 Advantix Camera, and some of the newer models. It looks like they brought the feature back. See the Kodak Website for details "http://www.kodak.com" .
Over-all Opinions:
I think this is a great camera. I have had no problems with it in all the years I have owned it. There may be newer models on the market that are better than this camera. In fact I didn't see this camera listed on the Kodak web site, which may mean it has been discontinued. If you have found one, and are interested in buying it, I would recommend that you do.
