makelli3's Full Review: Kodak Advantix C400AF APS Film Camera
I went grocery shopping on Father's Day, with no idea what to get my husband. So, I got him nothing. (The same thing he got me for my special day.) I bought myself a camera. I've been casually scouting out cameras for a couple of months, but didn't have the courage to actually purchase one.
I am not a photographer. I don't take very good pictures. I had to find a very user friendly camera. Like most, my budget doesn't allow a lot of flex. The Kodak Advantix C400 was my choice. So far, no regrets.
The C400 is small enough to fit in any of my purses, and it has a detachable carrying strap that has a plastic slider on it to secure it to your wrist. On the plastic slider is a little tip that can be used to rewind the film manually.
It is silver in color, with rubber finger rests. Makes holding the camera "feel" right, not to mention that it won't slip out of your fingers easily. You can select from 3 different sizes of pictures with the slide of a switch, which is located on the top of the camera, along with the button for taking the picture.
The picture can't be taken too easily by mistake either. The flash is located on a flap that folds down over the shutter. If the flash isn't up the picture button won't push. An indicator light next to the view finder flashes red until the flash is ready. When looking through the view finder, you can faintly see a circle in the center of your view. This helps to aim your picture. The camera knows when to flash and when not to based on the light available.
Below the view finder is a LCD display. In it lets you know if everything is working properly (flash, film, batteries). It tells how many pictures you've taken on this roll. You can take a roll out, used up or not, put another roll in and switch back without exposing the rest of the film.
The advantix film is put in a door on the bottom of the camera. To open the door, a lever under the right hand pushes toward the user to flip open the door and drop out the film. The 2 AA batteries also go into the bottom, too.
The automatic focus and red-eye reduction work great! I've never produced such great pictures. When I have my film developed I put it on a CD so that I can play with the pictures. It allows me to crop, change lighting, further reduce red-eye, and so much more! I've had all kinds of fun preparing pictures to show the world on my web page!
