I have to admit that I'm not much of a photographer. In fact, this was my first camera that wasn't disposable. Perhaps that's why I'm so impressed with it. I'd never had any features to play with before. This could explain the hours I spent with my finger on the zoom buttons - zooming in and out, in and out. Realizing that I could photograph my boyfriend's nose hairs, my roommate's pimples, and that weird purple spot on the ceiling that I had never seen before.
Then, I decided to actually put some film in it and give it a whirl. I was amazed at how easy it was. With the APS system, all you do is drop the film in - and voila - you're ready to take some pictures. But what kind of pictures? You get your choice of 3 different sizes - one being panorama. This excited me almost as much as the zoom. Combining the two features together was enough to keep me busy for days.
And I could easily fit the camera in my purse or in my coat pocket. It's not tiny. And it's not feather-light. But, it's small and light-weight. It won't get lost in your pocket, but it also won't give you a hernia when you try to use it.
Now, as I said, I'm not a photographer. I don't know all the lingo or even what separates a good camera from a bad one. All I know is that I've had this camera for two years and it's never given me a problem. It takes the best pictures I've ever seen. I've dropped it a few times on my hardwood floor and it hasn't broken. I've left it on a few times and it has shut itself off. It has auto-focus, so my pictures are never blurry. It's a camera for dummies. But, a good quality camera for dummies.
The only complaint I have is that sometimes it just refuses to take the picture. From the other epinions on this camera, I guess this has something to do with the light level being too low. This can be annoying, but usually on the second or third try I am able to make it take the picture. Of course, if your kid has just taken his first step and you missed it because your camera was being temperamental, well I guess then you might want to throw it against the wall and go buy yourself a nice disposal Kodak.
