I love to take pictures. It's been a hobby of mine for quite some time now. I've used many cameras in my lifetime and for the most part, I've gotten some great images from these cameras. Early May of last year, I attended a Nikon seminar, and the instructors gave rave reviews about their Nuvis 160i APS camera.
In July, I got a great deal on the camera and hoped to embark on a wonderful journey with this camera. The first few rolls that I developed were great. The images were clear, the colors were impressive and I couldn't have been happier. In August, I had 2 weddings, and I used the Nuvis 160i for both occasions. I got my pictures back, and needless to say, I was shocked. I took about 10 rolls from both weddings combined and none of the images came out. They were all blurry , out of focus and unrecognizable.
I wrote to Nikon, explained the situation, sent the camera to them for repair, and it was sent back to me just in time for the Christmas holiday. I took some images with the camera at my best friend, Candice's annual Christmas party, and when I got the pictures back, I was happy. Once again, the colors were bright, the images were sharp, and they all were great. I was happy, my camera was fixed and I thought this was a one time mishap, what are the odds of this happening again?
Apparently the odds are great (for me, at least). In February, I did a lot of traveling and I took the Nuvis 160i hoping to capture memorable moments. Boy were these moments memorable!!! Candice took me to Mount Airy Lodge and various locations on Long Island for my 25th birthday, I went to a Richard Marx concert in Merrillville, IN, and I went to Anchorage, AK with Candice and Aaron (a good friend of ours) to visit the University of Alaska Anchorage. In all, I took about 14-15 rolls (well over 100 shots). When I got these pictures back, out of all the rolls, I only had 6-8 usable images!!! Needless to say, I was livid. They were all blurry, out of focus, and a big disappointment.
I wrote a very nasty letter to Nikon because they assured me the situation was fixed and wouldn't occur again. I was (and still am) upset about this. I visited so many great places and I have NOTHING to show from them. My trip to Alaska alone was a trip of a lifetime. I'd never seen mountains like the ones I saw in Alaska, and now, all I can do is describe to my friends and family about my adventure.
I usually don't have problems with the cameras I use, but I have NEVER been disappointed in a camera more than I am with the Nuvis 160i. I'm a big fan of APS cameras because I love the no hassle loading, plus you have so many options with APS cameras that you don't have with regular SLR cameras. I'm not the greatest photographer out there, but I don't take bad pictures. Nikon's motto, "We take the world's best pictures, yours" is a farce. I've lost so much money, great memories and what I hoped to be memorable images from my adventures. I'm never buying another Nikon product again. They've lost a very valuable customer.
