| upsidedown223's Full Review: Nikon Pronea S Film Camera |
I first acquired this camera through some sort of special purchase at Ritzcamera.com, and for a little over $300, i got the camera body, 60-120mm lens, and a cool looking Nikon strap. When one first examines the camera, the thing that stands out most is the distinctive LCD screen controlling nearly all of the camera's functions. At night, the screen will actually light up like the face of an "indiglo" watch. If the purchaser is new to photography, a "basic" point and shoot mode can be used with good results. As the user gets used to the camera, more advanced modes such as "fast action," "close up," and "silhouette" can be used, as the user eventually works his way up to the shutter and aperature priority modes (photographer selects the shutter speed or lens f-stop and the camer's computer determines the other optimal settings), as well as the completely manual mode, in which the camera works like a no frills SLR, requiring the user to select all the camera's settings to suit his or her needs. In my experince with it, the camera has consistently yielded crisp, clear, professional looking pictures. Having the manual and priority modes add to the camera's versitility, and in my opinion, the overall experience. Physically, the camera is very egronomical, and well balanced.
My only complaints about this product are that the APS film is still not available in as great a variety of speeds etc. as 35mm. However it does come with the index print,(a big plus) and a great way of storing negatives (on the film roll itself), so i suppose this more than makes up for the lack of film variety (which is improving).
