| flis's Full Review: Nikon Pronea S Film Camera |
I was given this camera for my 18th birthday to use all through my gap year, ie for safaris in Africa and travelling around Austrailia, and I don't think another camera could have been more perfect. It is so easy to use, loading films by just dropping it in to a whole, and changing lenses by just pushing a button to unclip one, and clipping on the other. This camera has everything you need and lots more of functions to experiment with, to get better and more interesting photos than the average tourist snaps. There are four different exposure modes: auto(the easiest to use as it does it all for you); Flexible Program for those who know what they are doing and want more complex photos; Shutter-Priority Auto in which you can set the shutter speed yourself to achieve different affects like the motion of a cyclist etc. ; and Aperture-Prioroty Auto, in which you can control the depth of field, so can blur the background or foreground. In my first days with this camera experimenting I set a very high f-number(small aperture) and focused on a candle, pressed the button then zoomed in on the candle while the photo was being taken. The result of this was very successful and appeared like a corridor on candles down the side of the picture and one candle in focus in the distance! Be sure to stand the camera on a tripod, or hold it really still while using this function as the slightest camera shake shows up in your picture.
This is just and example of the many effect you can get with this camera, and you will never stop experimenting! The instruction manual is easy to follow and very helpful for getting started, but other photographic magazines are an excellent place to read about different techniques so you're sure to get the very best out of your camera.
